Red Nose comedian Russell Kane dances back to Aberdeen

March 11th, 2011

Stand up comedian Russell Kane, who cross-dress danced his way into the Let’s Dance for Comic Relief finale this weekend, has skipped his way into a larger venue in Aberdeen.

The funnyman played to packed houses at the city’s Lemon Tree in January but is returning to the city in March next year to stage his new show Manscaping on the larger stage at the Music Hall.

The £18.50 tickets for the 8pm, Thursday, March 15, 2012 gig go on sale to APA Friends today (Friday) and to the general public on Monday (March 14) online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall, His Majesty’s Theatre and The Lemon Tree.

In his new show, Fosters Comedy Award winner and star of loads of stuff on telly Russell mercilessly explores the ridiculous state of masculinity in the modern world even to the point of shaving his chest fur.

He is one of the leading lights of this year’s Red Nose Comic Relief campaign. Earlier he and other comedians raised money in their sleep in the UK’s first Lie Down Comedy Gig performing stand-up from the comfort of their beds at the Leicester Square Theatre, London.

In the first Let’s Dance for Comic Relief heat, the BBC show that sees celebrities recreate some of the nation’s favourite dance routines, he dressed in a revealing orange mini-dress and blonde wig to win the public vote with his hilarious rendition of Beyonce’s Crazy in Love.

It secured him a place in the Comic Relief final dance showdown this Saturday.

Celebrity judge Frank Skinner said of his first performance: ‘The worrying thing is that I didn’t look at the backing girls once. I loved it’.

And fellow judge, Graham Norton added: ‘I have a fear that on my death bed I’ll shut my eyes and see that again. But it was amazing’.
